About the role: 

The Technology, Media & Telecoms (TMT) team within Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Operations is a small team of c. 20 individuals within a broader M&A Operations organisation (c. 200 heads). We work on a wide range of transactions, primarily for private equity houses and large corporates.

Our team comprises both career-consultants and managers from industry, and strives for diversity of experience in our hires. Our team includes industry hires with backgrounds in operations, engineering, technology, commercial and sales.

The job will require some degree of travel, although our clients are increasingly accustomed to working offsite. As a team we are committed to PwC’s New Deal, which is built on two-way flexibility and trust.

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager who has industry experience with developing and implementing products/platforms within the software and technology sector

Key Responsibilities

Playing a key role to drive our product management area of work within the TMT sector, working very closely with senior leadership to shape and develop the proposition and practice, specifically within the software sub-sector. 

  • Help mentor / guide junior members of the team via managing project teams, onboarding and coaching. 

  • Advising on the development and execution of a technology product strategy and roadmap.

  • Scale the capability with practice build and team development in the UK and wider; and

  • Leading workstreams as part of a broader engagement, including owning key pieces of analysis and deliverables

This role is for you if:

  • You have a broad and deep technical understanding of product management as well as software development processes, concepts (especially in an agile environment) roadmaps and timelines.

  • Practical experience in a product management role, preferably in a Tech / software business

  • Skilled in understanding and linking product management to commercial / business vision – understand the customer need, monetisation and strategy for addressing this in the roadmap.

  • Deep familiarity with the workings of development, engineering and infrastructure teams, along with proven ability to set out, change or evaluate product features/capability, technical specifications and solution architecture; 

  • Strong technical skills including areas such as:

    • Understanding of programming languages and software development methodologies.

    • Knowledge of designing and managing complex system architectures.

    • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure etc.

    • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices to protect sensitive information.

    • Knowledge of database management and data protection.

    • Understanding of networking principles and infrastructure.

  • Ability to undertake competitive analysis and apply a user centric, business focussed mindset, leveraging their practical understanding of how the products are built and managed.

  • Expertise in defining or assessing engineering estimates and R&D budgets/ROI
