Head of Product Experience

 

Location: Commutable distance to Winchester / London. Whilst we offer a hybrid working model, it would be beneficial to be on-site at least 2 days a week.

Leads the overall customer experience strategy, ensuring a user-centric design approach throughout the product development lifecycle, resulting in intuitive, usable and unhindered product experiences for customers. The role provides overall direction, leadership and mentoring for the UI and UX members.

 

The Role 

  • Develops and owns comprehensive PX strategy for Arqiva
  • Establishes and maintains a user-centred design culture within Product (and brings the same mindset to cross-functional team discussions)
  • Sets the vision and direction for the UX/UI team, and leads the hiring activities and professional development of the team
  • Provides leadership and direction, setting performance goals, motivating the team and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Manages UX/UI budget and works with Enablement to manage resources and capacity
  • Represents PX team in discussions with product leadership and business stakeholders
  • Stays updated on latest UX/UI trends and best practices, and drives adoption of best-in-class UX/UI in Software Engineering teams
  • Ensures the adoption of UI libraires and UX approaches within the cross-functional teams, leading and championing this, whilst well-trodden development approaches which lead to sub-optimal customer journeys
  • Makes data driven and risk based decisions prioritise the work of PX function
  • Manages self & task: role models Arqiva’s culture goals with the team, building respect and credibility; set a high-performance bar and challenge the team to deliver
  • sustainable results, by developing the skills and capabilities of the team and focusing on outcomes
  • Manages relationships & communications: connects, collaborates & leads communication transparently, balancing face to face and virtual, with own team and teams across the business to encourage cross-functional understanding, agreement and knowledge sharing

The Person 

  • Extensive experience in user experience design, user interface design and customer experience strategy development
  • Experience in previous leadership roles and the ability to set a clear PX vision, achieve buy-in from the business (particularly Engineering/cross functional teams) and drive towards overall objectives
  • Experience in conducting user research and translating insights into actionable design decisions

 

Skills

  • Deep understanding of design thinking methodologies and user-centred design principles
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of designers, preferably UX/UI designers and PX professionals
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to provide leadership and mentoring to UX/UI team
  • Management proficiency in influencing, analysis, decision making, empathy, communications, and adaptability
